Benard Akoma is a native of Mgbom Okposi in Ohaozara LGA of Ebonyi State. He attended Ofeme Primary school and Williams Memorial Secondary school, Afugiri, all in Umuahia, Abia State.
He read Psychology and graduated with Second Class Upper degree from the university of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1986. He worked with the now defunct Newswatch Magazine in Lagos. He was the publisher of Rainbow and Nationalinsight Newspapers, now rested, in Ebonyi state. He has worked as Media Aide to then minister of Culture and Tourism, Ambassador Frank Ogbuewu and media consultant to Border Development Agency, a federal government parastatal among other media activities.
He is the publisher of the legislative Magazine called LegislatorVoice since 2009. The focus of the magazine is purely dedicated to reporting events around legislative activities in Nigeria, both states and national.
Benard Akoma is married with children.
