Senator Yemi Adaramodu, the spokesman of the Senate, has said that the sexual allegation against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio is just but a mere rumour until it's presented before the Senate for investigation.
On why the issue has not been reported to the appropriate committee of Ethics and Privileges, the Senate spokesman said that Senate has rules and procedures. Until a matter is presented formally on the floor following the Senate rules, the upper chamber does not just jump into the street and pick a matter and begin to investigate.

He however assured that if Senator Natasha tables the matter before the Senate, it will surely be referred to the appropriate committee. If after investigation Akpabio is found guilty, he will be treated like every other senator who violates the rules of the Senate. Adaramodu stated this while speaking on Arise TV’s Morning Show on March, 3 2025.
Adaramodu maintained that the only case before the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petition concerning Akpoti-Uduaghan is the one involving her non compliance with the Senate standing orders on sitting arrangement.
According to him: “The only matter before the Senate is between Senator Natasha and the rest of the senators, that she is not complying with the standing orders of the Senate and no other issues," he explained. The spokesman maintains that anytime the issue is presented before the Senate, it will be handled procedural.
Hear him, "if there is anything that comes tomorrow about any senator in the National Assembly, the ethics, privileges and public petition committee will review it as long as it is presented to them. It is going to be taken as an internal affair."
Adaramodu explains that “the Senate president does not run the committees with senators, committees are independent and their decisions are not influenced.”
