How best can Natasha Akpoti, the senator representing Kogi Central, be properly situated. Some say she is atypical or untypical, others described her as stubborn, mulish, perversely unyielding, yet she is viewed as a resolute, justifiable unyielding woman, by the other side of the society.

Above all, what is not on denial even among her traducers is that she is an epitome of matronly muliebrity, one with morale and mental strength to resist opposition.

 But in summary, Natasha is generally trumpeted as a woman with courage, as shown by her firmness of mind and will in the face of danger and extreme difficulties.

She is equally credited with mettle spirit as displayed by her ingrained capacity for meeting difficulties with fortitude and resilience. Natasha shows an unbroken spirit that suggests a quality of temperament that enables one to hold one’s morale high even when threatened by mighty forces.

The society have seen a resolute and tenacious Natasha who displays such determination to achieve one’s end with the tenacity and unwillingness to accept defeat in the face of all odds. 

She has dared Godswill Akpabio, the Nigeria senate president, just like she did to Yaya Bello, the immediate past governor of Kogi state and same bravery she has extended to the incumbent governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo.

She challenged Akpabio to venture into the ring. Hear her; “I challenge him to go to court, I will make evidence of sexual harassment against him available at the right time and at the right stage.” This was her response while appearing on Channel Television programme, March 3.

Natasha showed stoic confidence when asked by the TV host that Akpabio may be demanding concrete evidence against her allegation.  She is unfazed by such challenge.

Instead she is prepared to take the battles as they come on their own strides.

Recall that Akpabio is not the first Golliath to be confronted. She contested a senatorial election in Kogi State facing the biggest challenge of a sitting governor of the state then, Yaya Bello.

On the eve of her election, a big gully was created on the middle of the road to her senatorial district by her political opponents.

The intention was to block the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC access to even conduct election there. She rose up to the challenge, within a twinkle, she mobilized and the gully was back filled.

After the election, she was declared the loser and her opponent the winner but she was convinced she won the election. She took up the gauntlet, heeded to court and regained her mandate.

Just recently, the incumbent governor of her state, Kogi state, Usman Ododo imposed a curfew through the chairman of her local government.

The plan was to frustrate Natasha, who had arranged a home coming rally in her constituency, from attending the occasion.

Incidentally, the curfew was to restrict vehicular movement that would have completely neutralized any plans she had to storm the state with a long vehicular convoy.

But alas, Natasha, the cat, defied the curfew, beating them to their own game.

Instead of entering Kogi by road and contravene the law, she flew into the venue of her event with a helicopter, to the amazement of her opponents but admiration of her supporters.

The reception was thunderous as it reverberated with aesthetic crowd. Smarting from a very successful outing in her constituency that clearly made a statement about her acceptance in her senatorial zone,

INEC which had hitherto announced her recall process from the senate, suddenly threw away the request for her recall, saying, “it lacks merit.”

Natasha strides, her maneuver and her general dexterity in quenching the fiery darts of the opposition against her, have not only gained admiration and support for her but is beginning to sway opinions in her favour.  

Akpabio, many are advising should tread softly with caution, insinuating that Natasha appears to have crossed many rivers without a scratch by any crocodile.
